Once Upon A Happy Life...
Once upon a happy life
I’d walk outside, towards the sea
It’s vast blue surface, and it’s powerful waves
Always seemed to beckon me
Once upon a happy life
I’d watch the creatures flit about
From water to land, and back again
A safe existence was always allowed
In the present days, however
They writhe and struggle and jostle and strain
Against the wires that bind and cut
Yet, tangled in the nets, they remain
And in the present days
I walk outside, towards the sea
It’s dull grey waters, and it’s lifeless waves
Now seem to repulse me
