A Name Lost, Is A Life Lost
They say, you know you have died
When no one remembers your name
So what of the great heroes of old,
Who had fallen in their time?
Are they not dead right now,
For their names still echo
In the pages of books
And their likeliness remains
In statues of marble
Where people speak their names
And cherish their memories
They say, your life will not fade
Till your name escapes for a last time
From the depths of a person’s heart
And I lay here, wondering
At the bottom of a cold, dark chasm
If I have been dead
For a while now
